At St Gregory’s RC Primary School, our History curriculum aims to offer high quality history lessons in which the pupils will gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. All children from EYFS to Year 6 are taught skills and knowledge; appropriate for their year group, ensuring the progressive development of historical concepts, knowledge, skills; and subject specific vocabulary. The teaching in our school develops critical thinking, inquisitive questioning, and uses of various forms of sources to weigh up evidence and interpret meaning. By doing this, students will develop a well-rounded knowledge of the past and its events, with intention to improve every students’ cultural capital, understanding of the world around them and their own heritage, so they have the necessary skills and knowledge to future world changers.
