We are proud to be the first school in Bolton to receive the School of Sanctuary Award.

What is a school of Sanctuary?
A School of Sanctuary is a school that is committed to being a safe and welcoming place for those seeking sanctuary. It is a space for those whose lives were in danger in their own country, who have troubles at home or are just looking for a space where they can feel safe.
A School of Sanctuary is a school that helps its students, staff and wider community understand what it means to be seeking sanctuary and to extend a welcome to everyone as equal, valued members of the school community. It is a school that is proud to be a place of safety and inclusion for all and takes action to support the emotional health and wellbeing of its students.
St Gregory’s are the first School of Sanctuary in Bolton, we strive to meet the needs of our children and parents by listening, helping, including and taking action when necessary to provide a safe and happy place.
We provide a welcoming, caring, safe and secure environment, we embrace other cultures and are sympathetic to anyone who may have suffered or is still suffering.
St Gregory’s Language Ambassadors
A message from our language ambassadors
We are the St Gregory’s Language Ambassadors. Our families come from different countries and cultures. We can speak different languages and use our skills across the school to help children who speak English as a second language. We are buddies for children who are new to our school, we translate for teachers and we help to promote learning about language and different cultures across the school. We enjoy showing new pupils and adults around our school to help them learn how school works and make them feel welcome.
